A spider in my bath

Actually, it wasn't in my bath but on the tiles behind the shower head. If it had been in the bath, I think it would have been hard to get out, being so small. (Only about 8mm long so I'd be worried about damaging it).

It was fascinating really. Plain reddish brown in colour, almost certainly a member of a Clubiona species but with an elongated abdomen and with the size, I'd have thought it was probably Clubiona pallidula but the colouring was more appropriate to Clubiona trivialis. Either way, I'm privileged to see it in my bath rather than in the garden.

you could have used a piece of paper to get it out...otherwise, as you say, there's the danger of legs getting squahed etc.

ppg posted a picture of a spider from a photo site and I made a comment re it being a good web site...nobody got it :-( ..or maybe they just didn't think it funny.

P.S. I'm always nice to spiders...just in case they ever take over the world.

I sloosh them down the plug hole if they fit. If not I send for back up!

No not really, but when I was a kid in Australia, a huge and I mean HUGE spider the size of a dinner plate appeared on my bedroom wall one night.

I went downstairs and after pleas that I really couldn't sleep with this spider on my wall, my dad stumped up the stairs enjoining me not to be such a baby. He goes into my room, blanches and announces, "This is a job for your mother!"

I'm always nice to spiders because I like them. There are so many different kinds of them (around 50,000 species worldwide and many of them are beautiful... or make beautiful webs).

I know they have a bad reputation but of the 50,000 species less than a dozen are harmful to humans (unlike their close relatives, scorpions or ticks) and of the poisonous species, as far as I know, only the funnel web is agressive.

Despite not being a huge fan of spiders I've been determined to not pass it on to Eben and in fact ensure that he thinks they're very positive in te house which of course they are.

Poor little fellas terrified of them though, maybe I've been pushing them on him too much
